ABOUT LMSAA
History
With 13 Central League Titles, 8 District 1 Championships and a PIAA Class AAA Championship in 1987, Lower Merion Boys High School Soccer is one of the oldest and most successful programs in the nation. It has also been recognized as the Winningest Program in the history of Pennsylvania boys high school soccer with a total of 1,079 wins as of the time of this writing (through the 2022 fall soccer season).
This tradition of success has been forever preserved through the Lower Merion Soccer Alumni Association in its expansive vault of pictures, videos, and memorabilia. In addition, the association gives scholarship grants to two worthy Lower Merion high school soccer players annually in the name of two deceased former legends of our program, Coach Bob Davidson and Steve Fountain. Juan Munoz graduated from Lower Merion in 1998. He played 4 years of soccer, 2 years of varsity under coaches Dave urban and Chris Schriener. His Senior year he earned Team MVP, Defensive MVP, and the Harold Helveston most dedicated player award as well as several league honors.
Upon graduation from Lower Merion, Juan attended Susquehanna University for a year and then perused his lifelong dream to become a United States Marine. He graduated boot camp 2nd in his platoon in physical fitness scores as well as marksmanship. He was then attached to the 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton CA. He did 3 deployments, with 2 of them being combat tours in the Middle East.
Juan was a volunteer assistant coach for 6 years at LM under coaches Jon Fadeley and Nico Severini, helping the teams win multiple central league titles and a championship.
He remains involved with the program and regularly attends games. Juan is an avid Triathlete, winning the top overall championship out of over 1,500 athletes in his second year competing in triathlons. You can still catch him training on the LM turf.
